Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12/21/2022

In short

Teleskop follows a strict data-minimization approach. We only collect and process the personal data that is necessary to operate the platform properly, and protecting your personal information is very important to us.

Unlike many websites and platforms, Teleskop websites do not use invasive tracking cookies such as Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics.

Across Teleskop websites, we use Plausible Analytics, an open-source solution aligned with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR requirements. Plausible does not use cookies and is fully transparent. You can learn more at plausible.io.

When you use AI Assist, the content needed to generate the response is sent to AI model providers under zero-data-retention contracts: they do not retain the data after processing and do not use it to train models. See section 3.2 below.

Who we are

Teleskop is the commercial name of S.C. TELESKOP SYSTEM S.R.L., a Romanian legal entity with its registered office in Buzau County, Buzau, Strada Mesteacanului, Bloc 2E, registered with the Trade Register under J10/1581/2022 and fiscal identification code 47253824.

1. Introduction

This document ("Privacy Policy") explains how we collect, use, and disclose the information you may provide when using the services available through the Teleskop platform.

We may collect personal data from you through the platform itself or through other interactions related to the delivery of Teleskop services, including support, marketing, and service operations.

This Privacy Policy, together with our Terms and Conditions and any related documents referenced here, forms the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed.

2. What information we collect and for how long

We may collect and process the following personal data:

2.1 Information you provide directly

You may provide information, including information that can identify you ("Personal Data"), when you use the platform, sign up for our services, communicate with us by email or phone, participate in our surveys or promotions, or report an issue.

This may include:

  1. Information required to create a platform account: first name, last name, and email address.
  2. Information required to validate Plus, Business, School, or B2B accounts, in addition to the data above.
  3. School or company name and address. While these details may be required in some cases, the address remains private, and displaying the school or company name on generated forms is optional.

2.2 Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Forms generated by platform users may be automatically archived if 60 months have passed since the last access to the platform and/or since the last generated form.

2.3 Roles: controller and processor

For your account data (name, email, billing details), Teleskop acts as the data controller. For data submitted by respondents to forms you create, you (or your school / organization) act as the controller, and Teleskop acts as the data processor, processing the data solely on your instructions and under the agreement between the parties. Schools and organizations may request a data processing agreement (DPA) at privacy@teleskop.ro.

2.4 Student and minor data

The platform may be used to collect responses from students, including minors. In these cases, the teacher or school / organization creating the form is responsible for having a lawful basis and for informing respondents (or parents, where applicable). Teleskop does not direct marketing communications to minors and does not use their responses for any purpose other than providing the service.

2.5 Cookies

The platform uses only strictly necessary cookies (authentication, security, basic preferences). We do not use tracking, advertising, or profiling cookies. The Plausible analytics solution does not use cookies.

3. How we use the information we collect

We use your information for legitimate and clearly defined purposes, including:

  • providing access to the Teleskop platform;
  • diagnosing or fixing technical issues;
  • creating and managing your platform account;
  • complying with applicable legal obligations;
  • protecting the platform against cyber attacks.

3.1 Third-party processors

To operate the platform, we share certain data with providers acting as processors, strictly on our instructions and under GDPR-compliant contracts:

  • hosting and infrastructure;
  • online payment processing for subscriptions;
  • delivery of operational emails;
  • AI model providers, for the AI Assist feature (see section 3.2).

We do not pass your data to third parties for other purposes such as advertising or data sales. A complete, up-to-date list of processors is available on request at privacy@teleskop.ro.

3.2 AI Assist — zero data retention, no training on your data

When you use AI Assist (including AI Assist for Students), the content needed to generate the response (for example, the questions and answers in the analyzed form) is sent to the AI model provider solely to produce the requested response, under zero-data-retention contracts: the provider does not store the data after processing and does not use it to train AI models.

We, in turn, do not use your content to train our own AI models.

  • performance of the contract: creating and managing your account and delivering platform features (including AI Assist);
  • legal obligations: invoicing, accounting records, responses to authorities;
  • legitimate interests: platform security, fraud and abuse prevention, service improvement;
  • consent: marketing communications — you may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.

4. Who receives the information we collect

  1. When you use our services, certain identifying information may be displayed on the forms you generate.

  2. If you respond to a form created by a registered Teleskop user, the data you submit is considered to be in that registered user's possession. Teleskop is not responsible for any actions that may follow from that use.

  3. If the Teleskop platform is acquired in whole or in part by a third party, personal data held by Teleskop may form part of the transferred assets.

  4. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (for example, to global infrastructure or AI model providers), we ensure either an EU Commission adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, together with supplementary measures where needed.

  5. In the event of a personal data breach, we notify the supervisory authority within 72 hours where required under the GDPR and inform affected individuals where the breach is likely to result in a high risk to their rights and freedoms.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction or deletion of inaccurate personal data;
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
  • object to certain types of processing;
  • seek judicial remedy;
  • lodge a complaint with your data protection supervisory authority (in Romania, ANSPDCP — anspdcp.ro).

You may also request to opt out of Teleskop email communications, except for operational messages required to provide access to the platform and related services.

To exercise these rights, please send a signed and dated request to privacy@teleskop.ro. We respond within one month of receiving the request. That period may be extended by up to two months for complex or numerous requests, in which case we will inform you within the first month about the extension and the reasons for it.

These rights are not absolute. Each request will be assessed individually, and if a request cannot be fulfilled we will explain why.

6. Confidentiality of your login credentials

When you choose a password to access the platform, you are responsible for keeping it confidential. Please do not share your password with anyone. Teleskop will never ask you to disclose your password.

7. Changes to this document

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal changes or platform updates. We recommend checking this document periodically. In the case of major changes, we will notify users by email.

8. Contact

If you would like to contact us about our privacy practices or submit a request related to your personal data, please email privacy@teleskop.ro or write to the postal address listed above.
